The least Said the better @ 12:28 pm

Well the Cup final didn’t go quite to plan – Hibs were the better team throught with more opportunities on goal and simply better play but against the run of play Livvy scored two quick goals shortly after half time and we just couldn’t come back into the game.

I told you that I always jinx the teams I support – maybe I should learn and support the teams I don’t want to win…but I think that might be counter productive.

CIS Scottish League Cup final @ 10:19 pm

I have a habit of jinxing any team that I support so I’m not going to say very much about tommorrows big game Hibs v Livingstone in the CIS Cup final. The last time we picked up the League Cup was back in 1991, back when Skol were the sponsers (you remember that pissy brew???) when Hibs beat Dunfermline 2-0 at Hampden to end a 19-year wait for a trophy.

I remember it like yesterday, watching the open top bus come up Easter Rd from my bedroom window with crowds of lining the streets to cheer back the team and their newly hard fought bit of silverware; hibs scarves draped out the window and cheering support.

I just hope Hibs can do it again tommorrow and end 13 years of drought.

Come’on the Hibees!!!!!!!!!!

666 @ 9:47 am

The sixth goal in the sixty sixth minute of play summed up what can only be described as like having a rectal exam by a big hungarian customs officer. In what became an absurd scoreline the Scots were ill tempered and gave away silly fouls etc. with the first three goals alone coming from set pieces.

Some of the talk has since turned to should Bertie continue in the Scotland Job. Personally I’m torn – he’s taken an old and not very good squad (which wasn’t really going anywhere) and turned it into a young and not very good squad which may go somewhere in the next four years. But in doing so he’s removed all the experience from the squad, has endeded up with the worst managerial record in Scottish history and has watched scotland drop from about 30ish in the world rankings to the 60ish place we find ourselves in now.

The question for me is whether we want Bertie as our manager going into the next world cup and if we think he can turn these young lads around? Sadly I don’t think he can – I think he’s done the hard thing – actually taking the dive into bringing in young fresh talent – but I don’t think he has the calibre to take that side to success at international level and we may be best looking for a new manager quite soon.

Hibs to stay at Easter Road @ 10:42 am

Well after all the rumours and speculation about a possible ground share with Hearts and a move to Straiton . On Tuesday the Board of Hibernian FC made the announcement that supporters of the Club have been anxious to hear – Hibernian FC is to stay at its home at Easter Road Stadium.

Its good to finally have a decision one way or the other. Personally I’m glad that were to stay at Easter Rd but I realise that in the current financial climate that moving to Straiton may have offered the best long term chances for the clubs survival. I just hope that the board have done all their sums properly and that by choosing to stay at Easter Road their not making a huge financial mistake.
